Leg Press Calf Push

Position yourself comfortably on a leg press machine, having your back pushed into the machine whilst keeping your legs extended straight, with only the balls of your feet on the lower edge of the foot platform heels and arch hanging off.

FINISH HIGH

Smoothly push down on the balls of your feet, pushing the foot platform away from you, aiming to point your feet forward, taking care that your feet don't slip off the edge.

Hold in the pointed foot phase for 2 - 3 seconds prior to smoothly returning back to the start position, and repeating for desired reps.

Most machines come with locking handles, which will protect you if your feet do slip, make sure you know how to use these correctly.

You may decide to work this exercise, trying out numerous foot placements - feet normal - toes facing out (pigeon toe) - toes facing inwards or even with your feet higher on the foot plate (safer option if no locking handles).
