Standing DB Calf Raise
Use a block of wood - telephone directory - step box to raise yourself up 3 - 5 inches off the floor, resting your balls of your foot on the edge of your platform, having your heels and arch extended over the side.

You may decide to work this exercise with both feet, or one leg at a time (harder), using a suitable dumbbell weight to increase the difficulty.
Lift and lower your heels with all your weight on the balls of your feet, if you have poor balance hold onto a secure object whilst doing this exercise.
Remember to keep your back straight and head up throughout the exercise, aiming to maintain straight legs throughout the movement.
