Grasp a weighted plate around the ridge, keeping your thumb on the inside, with your finger tips on the outer side.
With the weights by your side in either a seated or standing position, focus on holding the plate for as long as possible, making sure that if you drop the weight, it will land on a soft cushioned surface.
Because your aim is to hold the weight to failure, this exercise is best performed in a seated position, which will mean your feet are out of the way, and the weight having less distance to drop, if performed standing, keep the weights away from your sides.
