Rest your middle on the main support of the machine, with the backs of your legs locked under the rear supports.

Place hands behind your head, and lower yourself down to a comfortable position, aiming to keep your back straight.
Using the muscles of your lower back lift yourself up ideally until your torso is parallel to the floor for beginners, and up to a position where your back and legs are in line for intermediates / advanced.
Lower under control, then repeat for desired number of reps.
