Supported Push Up

The Supported Push Up is a great exercise to help you progress your upper body strength.

With the weight of your lower body being supported on a suitable bench, this exercise is far easier than a standard push up, as your only lifting  the upper body.

As you become stronger, simply increase the exercise difficulty, by extending further away from the supported platform.

You can perform this method in a multitude of push ups styles, such as wide arm or close arm.

Always aim to keep your back straight, looking down towards the floor, inhaling as you lower down, taking your elbows out to your side.

Exhale as you push back up, taking care to work within your own limits.
