Heavy Upright Rows

Heavy upright rows should only be performed by experienced lifters, and used in the final few reps, in order to gain the extra benefits associated with safe, but technical lifting movements.

keep your hands 6 - 8 inches apart keep your elbows high above the bar lift the heels in the final phase to help lift the weight

Begin the lift as per a normal, however with your hands just a little further apart to aid stability.

As you lift the weight, lean back slightly, using your back muscles, then come up on your calves to bring in your leg muscles to aid with the lift.

Focus on keeping the movement smooth and under control, especially in the lowering phase, take care not to lean to far forward, or jerk the weight downwards, as this will cause excessive stress on your lower back.
