Back of Hands Press Up
This exercise is only suitable for persons who require improvements in their wrist strength, however it is also a good exercise for the chest muscles, as it forces you to lower your chest deeper than a standard press up. An ideal movement for martial arts, however should be avoided by general fitness enthusiasts.
Beginners to this movement should perform in a three quarter press up position, to reduce the workload on their wrists.
Commence with the back of your hands resting on a folded towel, with your fingers pointing towards each other, palms facing upwards.
Lower down under control, making sure that you work within your own limits, keeping a good body position throughout the movement (back and legs straight).
Focus on keeping the back of your hands and fingers pushed downwards into the floor, taking care not to work at speed or place excessive stress on your wrist. Remember if you feel pain, its your body telling you to stop - always listen to your body.
